Alicia Silverstone: 'I'm Very Glad' I Fed Son Mouth-To-Mouth

Alicia Silverstone makes no apologies for the video in which she chewed up food and fed her 11-month-old son Bear Blu mouth-to-mouth.
“I wasn’t saying this was anything somebody should do," the star of Clueless said Saturday as she appeared at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music to promote her upcoming movie, Vamps. "I wasn’t trying to be independent or cause such a ruckus. I’m very glad that I did it."
She continued, “People have been feeding their kids that way for thousands for years. It’s a weaning process. It’s just a thing that has been going on for thousands of years and I didn’t think I was inventing anything…”
As we previously reported, the controversy sprang up in March after Silverstone posted a Youtube video called “bear eating my mouth."
She subsequently wrote on her website, The Kind Life, "I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum!"

Bear Blu is the 35-year-old Silverstone’s first child and celebrates his first birthday May 5. His daddy is S.T.U.N. frontman Christopher Jarecki.
